Dental Prosthesis

Prosthetics and bridge applications are artificial dental techniques applied for wide spaces on the tooth bone. Half or full palate prostheses are designed according to the person’s mouth size. It is placed in the patient’s mouth, fixed or portable.

1.Fixed Dental Prostheses

Preferred dental prosthesis type since chewing is easier with this type of prostheses. However, this type is not -if there will be no implant- preferred due to aesthetic concerns since teeth are downsized for bridges. If patient has missing teeth, it is done by cutting nearby teeth.

Ceramic Crowns with Metals

It is a bridge prosthesis done by downsizing nearby teeth when there are missing teeth. Ceramic crown with metals includes metal alloys most suitable to gums. It is important to make this prosthesis appropriate to teeth color, size and height for aesthetics and chewing.

Ceramic Crowns with Zircon

Zirconium is the most preferred material for intraoral applications by dentists. It is the most suitable material for gums and has high durability. Crown prosthesis is closest to tooth for light transmittance, therefore the base of prosthesis is important. Zircon support gives prosthesis a natural look. For front teeth, this property is important.

The need for renewal of teeth can be felt after disfiguration of build and color of teeth. Lamination is the covering of teeth without disrupting its build. A natural look is achieved with lamination. Its aim can be treatment or aesthetic concerns.

Reasons for lamination

  • Deformation of teeth
  • Color change
  • To increase height of teeth
  • To treat teeth build with spaces
  • To change teeth shape

2.Removable prostheses

Removable prostheses can be removed in need contrary to fixed prostheses. Patient and doctor decide to apply removable or fixed prostheses. Type of prostheses change according to need of patient or comfort.

Chewing is not easy as fixed prostheses. There can be wounds until patient is comfortable with denture. After patient become comfortable with denture, there will not be any wounds. There should be a habit of cleaning prosthesis like a habit of brushişng teeth. Instead of toothpaste, there should be special cleaning substances for dentures.

To have high chewing capacity, complete dentures should fit completely to the mouth. Some bone problems can make denture to move. Implant support or special adhesives. Doctor can decide the treatment most suitable with patient.

Prosthesis frame with fine connections

The prosthesis applied to patients with lots of missing teeth. Since the application needs impressions to be taken, four or five sessions in two weeks is required. Grippers are placed on nests on teeth made by fine tools. It is aesthetically pleasing since there is not any hooks outside.

A well-made prosthesis does not move while chewing. Prosthesis frame with fine connections has a long usage life. Service life can change with prosthesis care of patient.

Prosthesis Frames

These are the prostheses which substitute missing teeth and can be removed at need. It is attached to nearby teeth by hooks. Hooks can accumulate food remains, therefore without cleaning it can cause tooth decay. Mouth hygiene should be ensured.
